ABOUT US

Edgebrook Cider takes its name from a 78 year old family orchard in the heart of the Hawke's Bay apple-growing district. For years, Hawke's Bay has been known as the 'fruit bowl of New Zealand'. The region has high sunshine hours, cool winters and fertile soils, and these factors combine to produce luscious apples with intense flavour.

Hawke's Bay is also well-known as a place where quality of life is valued. We understand that good apples come from well-cared-for trees and the best-flavoured apples are those allowed to fully ripen on the tree. We also take our time during cidermaking, using the frosty Autumn mornings to keep fermentations slow and steady.  To find out more about our philosophy, read on...

It goes without saying that we at Edgebrook are passionate about cider.  One of our mottoes is 'traditional values - modern thinking'. We can tell you why apples were once pressed with straw or the difference between Sussex and Somerset cider. We know about the old practices of pounding, tumping and keeving but we also have degrees in wine science, accountancy and management.
